Tips for Starters

"If you're a newbie, start with small projects. Big projects will get you exhausted and can be discouraging if you make mistakes (e.g. like how it took Myoree over 1 1/2 yrs to finish her repainting cabinet project!)."

"Ask friends for help if you need it!! Why not share the fun?"

"Don't know what to use to decorate? Use what you already own. Books you've read, souvenirs bought while traveling, a treasured family heirloom, and anything memorable to you are great decor items." (I've personally placed an old-skool Polaroid I got from a friend and a mask bought in Venice on my mantel).

I'm in dire need of help with dressing up my living room for my townhouse. Would you guys be able to help me out with some ideas? I find decorating very intimidating. I also don't want to spend more than I need to. I really like the contempo/modern look. My place is pretty much very dull looking at the moment. I wish I could post a picture up with this comment just to show you how much help I need. Lol. Its so blah.. that I'm so overwhelmed and don't even know where to start. I've checked out several other decorating websites like "houzz.com or homedecoraters.com" to get ideas but I just get bombarded with too many options. Grr.. help!!! ...please? =)

Thank you Myoree & Alexandra for your input so far. The bf had already painted the walls a neutral color. Unfortunatly, the sectional is within the same color scheme. Hence, the bland looking living room. I had put up a picture or 2 on your facebook page. That why you can get an idea of what I'm working with. Thanks so much for everything! - Emmi
